Context
Active in Mongolia since 2004, AVSF implements a set of programmes related to the yak fibre and cashmere value chains, sustainable pasture management and animal health. AVSF has launched in 2024 a project funded by Holding Textile Hermès in Bayankhongor, called GOATS. It will run until March 2027.
The project aims to ensure the complete autonomy of the sustainable cashmere value chain co-led by the Eeltei Baylag network and the Nomadic Legacy of the Steppes organization, to ensure the sustainable production and supply of quality cashmere respecting the specifications of an internationally recognized certification and adapted to the Mongolian nomadic herding system.
Responsibilities and duties
- Support Project Manager (PM) in planning and implementing all activities of the project, more especially on following topics: dissemination of the Responsible Nomads code of practices and RN-Sustainable Cashmere International certification to external stakeholders, supervision of the manual of procedures edition for primary cooperatives.
- Work closely, with a sense of diplomacy but rigour, with staff and partners on implementation of activities & compliance, ensuring clear communication with the field antenna team in Bayankhongor
- Draft terms of references and tender notices; edit and review project publications
- Support the Project Manager and Admin team in keeping up to date and compliant contractual procurement processes and documentation
- Support the Project Manager on communicating with Mongolian staff and partners to better, from one side, deliver messages and instructions, and, on the other side, better receive feedback to be in capacity of identifying solutions
- Ensure proper archival of mandatory project documents (contracts, attendance sheets, photos, etc.)
- Provide support on main reporting duties of AVSF towards donors as well as reporting of partners towards AVSF
- Support the design and tracking of progresses related to the M&E plan
- Help with communication and awareness raising efforts (social media, newsletter, TV campaigns, etc.)
- Fulfil other duties requested and/or needed by AVSF’s Project Manager or Country Representative, including support in English-Mongolia translation for the sake of Project Implementation.

The candidate will possess a higher education degree in a relevant sector (either with rural development, pasturelands management or textile focus) with confirmed work experience in project management of at least 4 years. The successful candidate will be a strong team worker, performing well under pressure and tight deadlines with an acute sense of diplomacy and communication. Her/she will have demonstrated analysis and synthesis abilities, excellent oral and writing abilities in English, and altogether an outstanding capacity to work in autonomy.
- Experience in INGO, working on development projects for international donors
- Demonstrated experience in M&E and report writing
- Strong capacity to use MS Office package and tools, preferably Office 365 as an integrated communication/time management tool.
- Perfect written/spoken English and Mongolian required. IELTS score above 7.0. French is an asset and can be considered as well in place of English.
- Strong skill for time management
